Prestressed concrete (PC) strands have become an essential component in modern construction, particularly for bridges, parking structures, and large-span buildings. Their ability to pre-compress concrete allows for thinner, lighter structural elements that can span greater distances.
The most common PC strand configuration is the 7-wire strand, consisting of a central wire surrounded by six outer wires in a helical pattern. Available in diameters from 9.3mm to 15.7mm, these strands are manufactured with tensile strengths of 1770 MPa or 1860 MPa.
In Southeast Europe, the demand for PC strands has been growing steadily as countries invest in infrastructure modernization. New highway projects in Croatia, Serbia, and Bosnia require thousands of tonnes of high-quality strands certified to European standards.
Quality certification is paramount. All PC strands must comply with EN 10138 and carry the EU Declaration of Performance. Additional national certifications such as ITB (Poland), NME (Czech Republic), or GOST (Russia) may be required depending on the destination market.
